Gilda Monica
Rangel
May 6, 1975 — Jun 29, 2025
Pleasanton
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, Gilda Monica Rangel. She was born on May 6, 1975, and was called home to be with the Lord on June 29, 2025.
Gilda lived a life grounded in love and loyalty. A devoted wife, soulmate to Lupe J. Rangel Jr., and a nurturing, guiding mother to their sons, Justin and Max Rangel. She was a steadfast sister to Cathleen Johnson, Christina Patrin, and Angie Rangel. Gilda was deeply loved by her mother, Maria Guadalupe Dominguez, and her mother-in-law, Eloisa Rangel. Affectionately known as "Mona", she held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews: Olivia Patrin, Ema Patrin, Jessica Aguilar, Isabel Aguilar, Jared Rangel, and Jaelin Rangel. She is cherished by many, especially her best friend, Jennifer Garcia.
A graduate of Providence High School (1993) in San Antonio, Texas, and Baylor University (1996), Waco, Texas, where she met her husband of 27 years, Lupe. Their love story was a testament to an enduring partnership, including being nominated "Couple of the Year" by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce (2013).
Gilda devoted her professional life to education. She began her career at Hillsboro ISD, continued at Medina Valley ISD, and made her home in Pleasanton ISD. Gilda held many roles over her twenty years in Pleasanton ISD, including classroom teacher, Academic Teacher Lead (ATL), and Campus Curriculum Specialist (CCIS). During her time in the classroom, Gilda was nominated Teacher of the Year and was respected and greatly loved by colleagues and students.
Gilda's greatest joy in life was cultivating a home for her boys. Her presence was a constant source of comfort, and her love was a gift she gave freely and generously. Her radiant smile filled every room with joy. Gilda leaves behind a legacy of love and faithfulness that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. While our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing her love is with us always and she is finally home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Services will conclude at the church.
