Glenda Ruth Tharp of Jourdanton, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the age of 73.  She was born in Laurel, Mississippi to Robert Nowell and Ruby (Walker) Nowell on December 12, 1950.

Glenda found joy in the simple things in life. She loved being a homemaker, cooking for her family, tending her beautiful garden, and surrounding herself with her cherished collection of elephant figurines, each one holding a special memory. Her compassionate spirit and warm smile touched the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Robert Nowell; son, Christopher Allen Tharp; and granddaughter, Alexandria Renea Tharp.

Glenda is survived by her loving husband, Joe Tharp; son, Jason Tharp; grandchildren, Lucas Robert Tharp, Rae Lynn Nichole (Tharp) Amon and EJ Dominic Tharp; and sister, Carolyn Reeves.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, starting at 9:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.  Burial will be held at St. Andrew Cemetery #1.

Pallbearers will be Garrett Hollis, Harrison Gaenzel, Jerrell Mitchell, Jerrell Mitchell III, Tom Merrill, Stanley Mikolajczyk and Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Nowell, and Joshua Nowell.
