Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Cordova, a beloved mother, educator, and cherished member of the Jourdanton community. Gloria was born on June 17, 1943, and peacefully transitioned to the next chapter of her life on September 10, 2025, at the age of 82.

Gloria dedicated over 20 years to teaching in the Jourdanton Independent School District, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless students. In addition to her teaching career, she spent 20 years as a bus driver, ensuring the safe passage of children to and from school. Gloria was proud to be the first female Hispanic member of the School Board, advocating tirelessly for the needs of her community. Her passion for education extended beyond traditional classrooms, as she taught GED classes and volunteered in various community programs, always aiming to uplift those around her.

A true beacon of kindness, Gloria was known for her generous spirit and selfless nature. She found joy in dancing, music, and thrifting, often sharing her finds with friends and family. An avid quilter, she created beautiful pieces that carried her love and warmth into the homes of those she cherished. Above all, Gloria was the rock of her family.

Gloria is survived by daughter Gloria Linda Cordova (Diane Elizardi-Cordova); grandchildren Sharon Delgado Sanchez (Augustine), Crystal Cordova (Joe Gower), Cathleen Cordova, Nick Guerra (Madison), Ian Elizardi (Ashley Moreno), Todd Rennie (Daisy Pardo), Charlisha Guerra, Larryssa Guerra, and Beaux Guerra; great-grandchildren Brianna Coronado (Chris Rodriguez), Rueben Coronado (Brittany Medina), Adrianna Coronado (Kenny McDonald), Christine Coronado, Taylor Vlasak, Richard Vlasak, Mara Gower, and Gaia Gower; great-great grandchildren Cason Rodriguez, Jahki McDonald, Anaya McDonald, Seline Coronado,  Braeden Rodriguez, and Kallie McDonald; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
