Obituary

Grace Rosemary, loving mother, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023, at the age of 96. Born on July 28, 1927, to her parents Johann and Mary (Uhman) Jilek, in Mobile, Alabama. Grace touched the lives of all who knew her,

Grace was a woman of many passions and talents. As a dedicated cafeteria manager for Harlandale ISD, she nourished the hearts and stomachs of countless students with her delicious meals. Her dedication to her work was evident in the smiles on the faces of those she served.

Outside of her professional life, Grace found joy in the simple pleasures. Cooking was her truest form of self-expression, and her family always eagerly gathered around her table to savor her mouthwatering creations. She found solace in her faith, cherishing her time at church and sharing her unwavering belief with those around her.

Family was the cornerstone of Grace's life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, whether it was game nights filled with laughter or quiet evenings spent reading together. In her younger years, she even enjoyed the camaraderie of bowling, relishing the competition and good-natured banter with friends.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents Johann and Mary (Uhman) Jilek, brothers; James & Frank Jilek and sister Helene Fuller, granddaughter Carlea Jenkins and great-granddaughter Christa Rose.

Grace will forever be remembered and missed by her son, Alvin "Billy" Jenkins, Jr. and wife Jan; daughter, Linda Hill and husband Terry; grandchildren, Christy Gayle, Carey Sue and husband Sean, Jonathan and wife Monica, Cortney Elizabeth and husband Darrell; and great-grandchildren, Jayton, Keegan, Erica and RaShawn.  Her warmth, kindness and zest for life left an indelible mark on their hearts.

A graveside service and ceremonies to honor Grace's memory will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, starting at 9:00 AM at the Brite Cemetery in Leming, Texas, providing family and friends ample opportunity to gather and share their cherished memories.
