Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Geulberto "Gilbert" G. Ambriz, a beloved patriarch, who departed this life on  Wednesday, July 9, 2025, just days shy of his 86th birthday. Gilbert was born on July 12, 1939, in Tilden, Texas, to Miguel and Estefana Garza Ambriz. A noble figure, who exemplified the spirit of hard work and devotion throughout his life.

Gilbert dedicated over 15 years of his career to HB Zachry, traveling extensively during his tenure. He later continued his profession as a welder at Holt until his retirement. As a man of great character, Gilbert was known for his simplicity, steadfast love for his family, and he was an entrepreneur at heart, establishing various businesses, including a flower shop, tire shop, and even running a restaurant. He was a man of many talents, often remarking and creating something better than what he admired.

A devoted family man, Gilbert expressed his love quietly but deeply. His warmth was felt through his actions rather than words; everyone knew they were cherished by him. He was a dedicated father to his children, and he adored his grandchildren, often taking countless cherished memories of joyous trips to Six Flags and family gatherings. He had a special bond with each of them, showering them with love and support. He was always ready to offer a helping hand and was unable to decline any request from them.

Gilbert is mourned by his children, Linda Ambriz, Sylvia Macha (Mario), Carlos Ambriz, Juan Ambriz (Irma); brother, Francisco Ambriz; sister, Manuela Gonzalez; sisters-in-law, Sofia Ambriz, Paula Ambriz; grandchildren, Eric Ambriz (Michelle), Mario Mancha, Jr.(Kathy), Kendra Johnson (Robert), Matthew Mancha (Lilly), Kimberly Romo (Alex), Annette Ambriz (Alex Gonzalez), Justin Ambriz, and Ashley Ambriz; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Ambriz; parents; brothers, Tomas Ambriz, Lazaro Ambriz; grandson, Andrew Jon Mancha; sister-in-law Lucy Ambriz; brother-in-law, Carlos Gonzalez; and nephew, Joey Gonzalez.

In honoring his life, a public viewing will take place at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church on July 17, 2025, at 9:00 AM, followed by a Rosary at 11:00 AM. A Mass celebrating Gilbert's life will commence at 11:30 AM, with burial services to follow at San Jose Cemetery in Jourdanton, Tx.

As we gather to remember Gilbert G. Ambriz, we celebrate a life well-lived—a simple man whose love for family, work ethic, and generous spirit will resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
