In loving memory of Helen Cerda, a cherished soul whose light extinguished on August 22, 2024, at the age of 79. Born in Pleasanton, Texas, on October 26, 1944, her life painted a canvas of kindness and generosity that touched all who were fortunate to know her. Helen, a dedicated mother with a heart of gold, graced this world with her presence.

Defined by her unwavering love for her family, Helen was a beacon of warmth and compassion, adoring her children and grandchildren with a fierce and unconditional love. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, a testament to the deep well of love that resided within her soul.

Helen Cerda had an affinity for the simple pleasures in life, finding solace in her morning coffee and sharing a smile with strangers who soon became friends. Her altruistic nature knew no bounds, as she selflessly extended a helping hand to all she encountered, embodying the true essence of compassion and empathy.

Helen is survived by her children David Caballero (Betty), Santos Caballero (Rafaela), Frances Cerda, and Eric Cerda (Stacey); sister Julia Herrera (Ignacio); grandchildren David ray, Kory, Cody, Jennifer, Miranda "Panda", Khloe, Noah and Joseph; great-grandchildren Averie, Aubri, Cody Jr., Cash, Cayson, Isaiah, Isaac, Ivan and Ian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

As we prepare to bid farewell and honor the life she lived, funeral services and ceremonies for Helen Cerda will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, beginning with a time of visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by the reciting of the rosary at 7:oo p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church followed by interment at Esparza Cemetery.

May her memory forever live on in the hearts of those she touched, a legacy of love and light that will endure through the passage of time. Rest in peace, dear Helen, your spirit will forever be cherished and remembered.

Mary was preceded in death by: husband Joe Fred Cerda; parents Rafael and Virginia Lambaria; daughter Deanna Caballero; brother John Lambaria; and sister Rachael Castillo.

Pallbearers will be Roger Garcia, Albert Caballero, John Lambaria Jr., Henry "Kiki" Castillo, Rodney Garza, Rafael Herrera, David Ray Caballero & Kory Caballero.
