In loving memory of Hortensia E. Garcia, it is with deep sorrow that we announce her passing on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in Pleasanton. She was born on Wednesday, November 26, 1930, in Leming, to Manuel and Luisa (Posada) Espinosa. Hortensia, a cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Throughout her life, Hortensia devoted herself to caring for her loved ones as a dedicated homemaker. Her warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her. Hortensia was an avid reader. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and was known to give good advice and wisdom to all who knew her. She made homemade tamales, tortillas, and clothes for her family. Her family was most important to her.
Hortensia is survived by her sons, Natividad Garcia and Sonia, Jesse A. Garcia and Eloisa, Arturo Garcia, and Gilbert Garcia and Rose Mary; daughters, Mary Alice Martinez, Gloria Lara and Roel, Irene Garcia, Helen Garcia, Martha Garcia and Dennis, and Rosemary Ximenez and Rudy; brothers Pablo Espinosa and Anita, Richard Espinosa and Olga, and Manuel Espinosa Jr. and Linda; sisters, Lucia Martinez, Oralia Luna, Olivia Rodriguez, and Nora Gonzales. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Hortensia was preceded in death by her husband, Cruz G. Garcia Sr; son, Cruz G. Garcia Jr.; grandson, Christopher Robles; parents, Manuel and Luisa Espinosa, and sisters, Irene Holguin, and Mary Ann Cantu.
Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at the viewing at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Friday, July 26, 2024, starting at 5:00 pm, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. A Mass to celebrate Hortensia's life will be celebrated at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
