Ikie Arlee
Wilkins
Dec 20, 1939 — Aug 25, 2026
Poteet
Ikie Arlee Wilkins passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Jourdanton, Texas.
Ikie was born on December 20, 1939, during a freezing blizzard in a little adobe house in Acala, Texas, to Ike and Alta Marie (Wimbs) Wilkins. His family later moved back to Poteet, Texas, where Ikie would meet the love of his life, Frankie Lee Rutherford. The two were married on June 4, 1960, shortly after Frankie graduated, beginning a life together filled with love, family, and treasured memories.
In August 1958, Ikie began his career with National Bank of Commerce, where he gained valuable experience in banking. In 1962, he left the bank to join Forest Oil Corporation as Manager of General Accounting, a position that opened the door to many other opportunities throughout his career.
In 1994, Ikie took early retirement and formed his own consulting business, Rowe Energy Services, Inc. After dissolving the company in 2000, he continued independently, providing consulting services and oil and gas property management. He officially retired in May 2007, when his daughter, Brenda, took over the business.
Retirement gave Ikie the opportunity to enjoy what mattered most to him—his family and the life he had worked so hard to build. He became a Christian early in life and remained strong in his faith. Ikie was ready when the Lord called him home, asking his family not to mourn his passing, but instead to celebrate the wonderful life he lived.
Ikie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frankie Wilkins; his parents, Ike and Alta Wilkins; his brothers, Roland Wilkins and Floyd Wilkins; and his sister, Helen Wilkins Adams, and her husband, Don Adams.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Young; grandson, Kevin Sparks and wife Rachel; great-grandchildren, Kylie Sparks, Landon Wright, and Avery Sparks; granddaughter, Heather Myers and husband Ethan; great-grandchildren, Nicolas Sparks-Myers, Bryson Sparks-Myers, and Mark Myers; and sisters-in-law, Patty Anderson Wilkins and Joan Polasek Wilkins.
Serving as Ikie’s pallbearers will be Lee Cumpian, Randolph Hass, Joey Myers, Tim Harmon, Cliff Smith, and Troy Swan.
Ikie leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, devotion, and love for his family. In keeping with his wishes, those who knew and loved him are encouraged not simply to mourn his passing, but to remember him with gratitude and celebrate a life well lived.
