Obituary

Ira Lee Reeves, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his home on July 1, 2023. He was born on August 18, 1934, in Millett, Texas to George and Elsie Reeves.

He served as a member of the military intelligence in the Army from 1954 to 1956 when he was honorably discharged. Then on December 8, 1956, he married the love of his life, Dorthy Gorhum, in Weslaco, Texas. He worked with GTE, and later Verizon, for 40 years where he received an award for driving one million miles without an accident. After he retired in 1991, he owned and operated Reeves Communication Services for twelve years. Ira's favorite past times were hunting and fishing with his great-grandchildren and taking care of his cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie Reeves; his brothers, Eddie Marvin Reeves, George "Esaw" Washington Reeves, and Homer Reeves; his sister, Helen Roman; and his daughter, Leean Carol McNeill.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Dorthy Reeves; his son, Don Reeves, and his wife, Bonnie; his grandson, William Reeves, and his wife, Deann; his great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Douglas Reeves; and his sister, Alice Jean Cook.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Pleasanton City Cemetery.
