With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Irene R. Carrasco, a beloved matriarch, who left us peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born on June 28, 1944, in Poteet, Texas, to Florentino and Matilde (Zepeda) Ramos. Irene was a vibrant fixture in her community and a treasured member of her family.

She was preceded in death by parents, Florentino and Matilde Ramos; brothers, Florentino Ramos, Jr., Manuel Ramos, Charlie Ramos, Paul Ramos, Fernando Ramos; sisters, Concepcion Aldana, Manuela Alaniz and Angelina Carrasco.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Abel Carrasco, Sr., daughter Tillie Carrasco Ambriz.; son, Abel Carrasco, Jr. and wife Annette; brothers, Rodrigo Ramos, Adolfo Ramos; grandchildren, Zachary Carrasco, Natalie Sotello and husband Cameron; Kimberly Romo and husband Alex; great-grandchildren; Joaquin Romo, Olivia Grace Romo, Sunny Kate Sotello and numerous extended family and friends.

Irene was a radiant force in her family, serving as a second mother to many and a cherished role model for those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her cooking was her own, she measured with her heart, so she never knew how much to tell you to add. Her profound dedication to her family and friends was evident in her nurturing spirit. She loved to laugh whether it was family stories or her favorite TV shows.

Her compassion extended beyond the confines of her home as she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), dedicating her life to caring for others in the health care field. She always brought compassion, a wonderful smile and a positive attitude to all parts of her life.

Irene was a woman of many passions. She loved sports, enjoyed sewing, and frequently gathered with family and friends for lively game. Her infectious laughter and love for life created bonds that will last a lifetime. Her family will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

We, the family, would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pleasanton South Nursing and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care and support during Irene's time there. Your dedication did not go unnoticed, and we appreciate you for keeping her comfortable and valued.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at St. Philip of Benizi Catholic Church starting with a visitation at 9:00 am to 11:00 am, a reciting of the rosary at 11:30 am and mass at 12:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Madre #2.
