Irene Gonzales, beloved mother and grandmother, passed into eternal rest on December 9, 2023, at the age of 60 in San Antonio.

Irene was born February 5, 1963, in Pleasanton to Mary Helen and Richard Garcia. Irene was a graduate of Pleasanton High School and worked 39 years in the freight carrier industry, starting with Lange Truck Lines and working the last 13 years with Estes Express.

Irene is survived by daughter Jennifer Gonzales and son in law, Jesus Pena, daughters Kayla Gonzales and Lorenza Gonzales of Pleasanton, granddaughters Iris and Kaia Gonzalez, Aliya Casares, brother Richard Garcia and sister in law, Irma Sanchez of Pleasanton, sister Mylinda Murray and brother in law Brandon of Austin, nephews Kevin Trevino, Cody Garcia, Donald Ray Rogers, Sean Garcia, and niece Amanda Garcia Heeneman, aunt Julia Akers, uncle Isabel Garcia, Jr , aunt Josie Garcia, uncle John Joe Lopez, numerous cousins, friends, coworkers, and her pets Harley and Ivy.

Irene enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, and shopping for vintage clothing. She was a lifelong animal lover, book reader and enjoyed all types of music. But most of all Irene loved spending time with her family, friends and coworkers.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, brother Louis Garcia, and sister Vicki Trevino.

Services are scheduled for Friday, December 15, 2023, starting with a visitation from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel.  Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 16, 2023 at St. Andrew Catholic Church starting at 11:00 am, followed by burial at San Ysidro Cemetery.
