Irene O. Mendez, of Pleasanton passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Saturday February 8, 2025. She was born February 1, 1970, in Jourdanton to Jesus and Sofia Mendez.

She was survived by her daughter Lorraine and husband Eric Garcia; her sisters Marylou Casares, Estella and husband Margarito Aguero; and brother Andy Mendez.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Sofia Mendez; sisters Rosemary Erskin, Consuela Mendez, Guadalupe Mendez, and Margie Arguijo; and brothers, Jesse Mendez and Manuel Mendez.

Irene spent her whole life as a caregiver, valuing her work in taking care of others and the relationships she built with her patients. She had a heart of gold and was always a phone call away to help anyone in need. Irene enjoyed her daily glass of coca-cola, talking or spending time with friends, and gambling. In her spare time you could always find her at the hilltop bingo hall. After the passing of her loved ones, she took on the role to try and keep her family together. She loved and enjoyed her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Irene always made it known that her biggest accomplishment in her life was always her daughter and the bond they shared. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation and services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home, starting with visitation at 9:30 am, the rosary and funeral service at 11:00 am, followed by the interment in St. Andrew Cemetery #2.
