James Charles (Jim) Cullom, 64, of Jourdanton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2026, at Methodist Hospital Atascosa in Jourdanton, Texas.

The youngest child of James Olin Cullom and Gloria Dell Hinton Cullom, Jim was born on October 25, 1961, in Bonham, Texas. From early on, he displayed a special aptitude for music, and after graduating from high school, received a full scholarship to study music at Texas A&M at Commerce.

Jim’s work history reflects his intelligence and versatility. In his early working career, he transitioned from radio announcer to restaurant manager to computer graphics designer to layout editor for the San Antonio Express News to IT support technician. Ultimately, he worked as a government contractor at Lackland Air Force Base to implement medical software for the military. Despite his busy life, Jim found time to become an Associate Pastor and preach God’s word at different churches in south Texas.

Jim met his wife Cindy in their high school band class and 30 years later married her on Marriage Island on the River Walk in San Antonio.

If you knew Jim, you knew his love for music and his encyclopedic knowledge of it. No matter where he was, he always had music playing. He could name that tune and tell you the name of the band and the band members' names. He shared his love of music with his daughters, Cami and Amanda, and taught them to play the guitar.

If you knew Jim, you also knew that he was a born comedian and uproarious storyteller as well as a prolific reader of fiction and a fantastic cook. Those fortunate to have known him will always remember his charm, wit, and intelligence.

Jim leaves behind his wife, Cindy; children, Lora Camille "Cami" Cullom and wife Jennafer Holik Cullom, Amanda Michelle Hunt and husband Jess; step-children, Heather Work and husband John Paul, Paige Bartlett, and Seth Bartlett and wife Cassandra; 5 step-grandchildren, who called him "HoHo", because of the long beard he later grew, Kayleigh Work-Ramsey, and husband Drake, Victor Work, Sandra Bartlett, Lylian "Lyli" Bartlett, and Madison Bartlett; and 1 step-great grandson, Elias "Eli" Ramsey; two sisters, Camille Dulaney and husband Robert, and Charlotte Harris and husband Ron, sister-in-law Susan Layman; nephew, Rodney Harris; and great-nephew and niece, Tyler Pickle and Sabrina Vanneste.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his niece Angela Pickle and brother-in-law Terry Layman.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the American Legion Post 436 at 1404 Zanderson Avenue, Jourdanton, Texas, from 4 to 6 pm. Come as you are —Jim would have wanted it that way.
