On March 17, 2023, James Samuel Riley went to his eternal home and heavenly Father, at the age of 80.  James was born on September 18, 1942, in San Antonio to Charles Riley, Jr. and Ruth (Brister) Riley.

James was a loving husband, father, brother, paw paw, great-paw paw and friend.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Riley, Jr. and Ruth Riley; brother, Charles Riley; son-in-law, Rocky Bob Custer; nephew, Michael Todd Riley; and sister-in-law, Punkie Neal.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Riley; children, Brenda and husband Chris Kirkham, Cindy Custer, Darla and husband Darren Pullin; grandchildren, Justin and wife Colleen, Todd and wife Rissa, Ty, Rocky, Tyler, Kyle and Megan; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Addi, Emily and Zoey.

James was a loving and caring man.  He worked in the lighting industry until he retired at the age of 70.  In his spare time, he enjoyed working cattle, and riding horses.  He was a very proud father and paw paw who enjoyed spending time with his family.  Whenever you would ask James how he was doing, he would always say "terr-ific."  After James retired, you could find him watching Nasar, cheering on Jimmy Johnson.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family and always remembered in their hearts.  We are sincerely grateful to the many friends who have given us support and comfort during this time of loss.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 23,2023 at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel with family excepting friends and family starting at 9:00 AM, with Funeral Services to follow at 10:00 AM, Interment to follow at 11:30 AM Campbellton City Cemetery in Campbellton, Texas.
