Jana Lynn Searle passed away on May 21, 2026.  Jana was born to Walter Searle and Wanda (Rainwater) Searle on February 17, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas.  Jana loved horses and generally preferred their company to that of most humans. If you ever wanted to strike up a conversation with Jana, the quickest way to get her talking was to ask about horses.

Even from an early age, horses were never just animals to Jana, they were her companions (especially her beloved Arabian mare Syria), her therapist, and her refuge.  Her barn brought her great comfort with the sweet smell of hay and the loud calls of greetings from her beloved companions.  The quiet bond between horse and rider brought her true happiness that few people ever truly understand.

She spent many years training her horses not only to be riding horses, but some of them performed tricks and together with her Syria she shared her love of horses at church functions and at local horse shows.  She also took in horses over the years who needed a soft place to land after neglect or bad human experiences.

Jana is preceded in death by her father Walter Searle, sister Sharon Bishop, infant brother Jimmy Allen Searle, her nephew Clifton Bishop, Jr, and her grandparents Walter and Bessie Moody.

Jana is survived by her mother devoted mother Wanda Searle, her brothers Gerry and Roger Searle, her nieces Leslie Deremer (Neal) and Brandy Whiteley (Michael).  She also leaves behind her great nieces and nephews Ethan Deremer, Evan Deremer (Mercedees), Alyssa Jurado (Xavier), Kennedy Reazola (Diego), and Aaron Whitely, and her great, great nephews Barrett, Wesson, Henry, and Kaleo.

A celebration of life for Jana, will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 3:00 pm.
