Janice Neugebauer

February 16, 1957 – November 16, 2024

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Janice Neugebauer, who died on November 16, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on February 16, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, to Henry and Rose Hannasch, Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family was the center of her world, and her legacy of love, faith, and service to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

When remembering Janice, three words come to mind: Cheerful, Strong, and Serving. She lived her life joyfully helping others, ensuring everyone around her felt loved and cared for.

Janice was married to her best friend, John Neugebauer, on October 18, 1980. Together, they shared 44 years of love, laughter, and unwavering companionship. Their bond was built on mutual respect and deep affection, and their love for each other was an example to all.

Janice was the proud mother of two sons, Matthew and Michael. She was a devoted mother-in-law to Aimee and Krista, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

In her early years as a mother, Janice devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her boys. She stayed home with them, ensuring they had everything they needed and showering them with love and care. When her sons were older, Janice decided to pursue her own dreams. With amazing skill and grace, she juggled the demands of being a mother, wife, and full-time student, earning a degree in Physical Therapy in 1998. Her dedication and perseverance to finish her education while raising a family were a testament to her strength and determination.

Janice worked as a physical therapist for many years and was dedicated to her patients. She retired in 2014, after a rewarding career in which she touched the lives of many. Her career reflected her caring nature, and she approached her work with the same compassion and dedication that defined her personal life.

As a grandmother, Janice was adored by her four grandchildren: Braydon, Hailey, Everitt, and Liam. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with them. The special bond she shared with her grandchildren will always be remembered.

Janice faced many medical challenges throughout her life, including breast cancer, skin cancer, and GIST cancer. She met these challenges with incredible courage, strength, and grace, always putting the needs of her family before her own. She found inspiration and strength in her faith, living by the words of Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This verse served as her guiding light during the toughest of times, reminding her of the power of faith and perseverance. Her resilience and unwavering love for her family were an inspiration to all who knew her.

A devout Catholic, Janice's faith was central to her life. She was a long-time member of St. Luke's Loire Catholic Church's Altar Society and served as its president for a time. Janice had a passion for gardening and was in the process of becoming a Master Gardener before her passing.  In addition, Janice was passionate about books and had a lifelong love of reading.

Janice is survived by her loving husband, John, her sons Matthew and Michael, her daughters-in-law Aimee and Krista, her four grandchildren Braydon, Hailey, Everitt, and Liam, her parents Henry and Rose Hannasch, her three sisters Donna Hunsicker and her husband Steve, Theresa Mangold and her husband Gary, and Nancy Russel and her husband Corey, as well as nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A visitation, rosary, and Mass will be held on November 26, 2024, at St. Luke's Loire Catholic Church, beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Luke's Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Janice's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of the donor's choosing that focuses on supporting those with breast cancer and advancing breast cancer research. This cause was close to Janice's heart, and contributions in her memory will honor her legacy of strength and hope.

Janice's love, faith, and compassion will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.
