Janie Nevarez
Figueroa
May 10, 1958 — May 27, 2023
Charlotte
Janie Nevarez Figueroa passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the age of 65. She was born in Pleasanton, on May 10, 1958, to Jesse Nevarez and Mary Olga Cantu.
Janie was a very strong woman of faith, who was always involved in helping her church community with fundraisers and activities. She was an amazing cook who was known for her enchiladas, but also carried her cooking talent over to the hospital, where she worked for 38 years, starting with Tri-City Hospital and ending with Methodist Atascosa Hospital. Janie always wore her heart on her sleeve, helping anyone she came across. She was a loving and amazing wife and mother, an extraordinary grandmother, who was known as Muneca to her grandchildren. Angie, Andy and Adam are going to miss watching her favorite show with her in the mornings – the Price is Right, and Aaliyah and Paisley will miss their drives to the post office, listening to the music blaring and singing with their Muneca.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Angie Marie and husband Shaun Roberts; sons, Andy Figueroa and Adam Figueroa; sister, Joann and husband Abel Gomez; brothers, Joe Zulica, Mario Zulica and wife Carolina, Leroy Ximenez and Larry Ximenez; grandchildren, Aaliyah Jordan Martinez-Roberts and Paisley Marie Martinez-Roberts; and uncle Willie Cantu and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fernando Patlan Figueroa; parents Jesse Nevarez and Mary Olga Cantu; brother, David Zulica; aunts, Felipa Cantu, Patsy Padilla and Dora Bermea; and uncle, Adolfo Cantu.
The family would like to thank everyone who has sent their condolences to the Figueroa and Roberts families.
