Jay Daniel Stephenson, age 29, of Jourdanton, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023. He was born July 18, 1993 in San Antonio to Mark L. and Rachel (Goins) Stephenson.

Jay worked as a crane operator. He was a 2012 graduate of Poteet High School. He loved to draw, sketch, and was known to be an amazing artist. Funny movies, traveling and especially spending time with his family and friends were his passion. Jay loved to laugh, was a stranger to no one and a friend to all.

He is survived by his mother, Rachel G. Stephenson; brother, James M Goins Sr. and wife Acacia, and sister, Alyssa-Lynn Lerma and husband Anselmo.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Mark L. Stephenson; maternal grandparents, Henry C. and Virginia Goins; paternal grandparents, Louis and Beverly Stephenson; aunt, Diana Ellis; and nephew, Azriel James Goins.

Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11:30 am, with interment to follow in San Jose Cemetery.
