It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jefferson Alonzo Crabb, affectionately known as "Lonnie," a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and veteran, who departed this life on March 11, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born on December 5, 1930, to parents, Jefferson Crabb and Opal Sullivan Crabb, in Christine, Texas, where he grew up and graduated from Christine High School.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Thorp Crabb; children, Jefferson Alonzo Crabb, Jr., Debbie Crabb Riedel (Randy), and Samuel Alexander Crabb (Lynn); grandchildren, Jennifer Miles, Matthew Helm (Samantha), Jordan Crabb (Kevin), Jeryn Crabb Roberts (Johann), Lauren Crabb and Alex Crabb; great-grandchildren, Makynzie Miles, Hadley Miles and Josephine Roberts; as well as numerous other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Opal Crabb; sister, Anna Winn; daughter-in-law, Judy Crabb; and grandson-in-law, Chad Miles.
Lonnie served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force and his basketball skills awarded him the opportunity to play on the US team during the years he was stationed in France. After his service, he dedicated over three decades of his life to the United States Postal Service, beginning at the main Post Office downtown San Antonio, Texas, then as Postmaster in Jourdanton, Texas, and concluded his career as Postmaster in Port Lavaca, Texas. After retirement from the Postal Service, Lonnie was able to pursue his passion for fishing. His love of fishing and telling fish stories lead him to operating Doc's Dock, a fishing/bait business in Port O'Connor, Texas, and running an offshore fishing charter with his son, ensuring every guest left with unforgettable memories. His engaging and sociable nature made him a beloved figure in every community he touched.
Lonnie was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jourdanton and Tilden, the Lions Club and an ongoing supporter of the Veteran's Affairs post.
