Johnny Ramos, known to his family affectionately as "John", 54, of Pleasanton, Texas, went to be with our Lord on February 4, 2024 at Kindred Hospital in San Antonio surrounded by numerous friends and family. He was born on March 12, 1969 to Antonio B. Ramos Jr. and Consuelo G. Ramos, and was raised in Poteet, Texas.
John is survived by his wife, Zenaida Vera Ramos, son Alec Vera and wife Kimberly Michaels, grandsons Asher James and Aldar John of Poteet, his mother Consuelo (Guzman) Ramos of Poteet; brothers, Antonio Ramos, III of San Antonio; Richard G. Ramos and wife Mary F. Ramos of Poteet; Arthur G. Ramos of San Antonio; Rudy G. Ramos, of Poteet, Frank Ramos and wife Anita H. Ramos of Poteet; Ed J. Ramos and wife Irene E. Ramos of Poteet; Luis Ramos and wife Michelle G. Ramos of Poteet, sisters, Vicki Ramos Catala' and husband Fred Catala' of Poteet; Rosemary R. Lopez and husband Roger Lopez of Poteet; his wife's family, mother in-law Alicia Vera, brothers in-law Enrique Vera, Alberto Vera, and David Vera, sisters Christine Vera- Pacheco and husband Manuel Castro and Sylvia Garcia and husband Ricky. John is survived also by numerous nieces', nephews and a wide circle of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio B. Ramos Jr.; brother, Robert G. Ramos; and father in-law Henry P. Vera.
Born and raised in Poteet, Texas, John attended school in Poteet and is a graduate of Poteet High School. He went on to pursue a career in automotive and tire repair working for his father and then brothers in the Automotive and Tire repair business that was established by the family patriarch, Tony B. Ramos, Jr. and his son, Tony B. Ramos, III. He worked in that business for decades and was a testimony to his dedication, gave it his all for 37 years. John was a jack of all trades at the Automotive Center but served as the on-call service truck driver specializing in repair of farm and large truck tires. He is well known throughout the farming community and made a positive impact on the wide client base of farmers and ranchers of the area. He as often asked for by name by all the local clientele.
John was renowned for his exceptional barbecuing skills, and he took immense pleasure in preparing delicious meals for family gatherings. In addition to his love for motorcycles and cooking, Johnny found solace in the simplicity of an occasional fishing or hunting trip and reveled in the excitement of travel. Always with a wanderlust spirit, he delighted in planning his next adventure, creating cherished memories along the way.
John's heart overflowed with unconditional love and dedication, especially evident in his unwavering loyalty to his two beloved dogs, Scooby Doo and Hera. He cared for these four-legged family members with boundless affection, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
A warm, kind-hearted friend, John touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. The family is profoundly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support, care, and concern expressed at the Tire Center over the last month and a half. Your heartfelt condolences have provided comfort during this difficult time.
A visitation for Johnny Ramos is scheduled for Monday, February 19, 2024, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, starting at 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm. On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, a celebration of mass will begin at 10:00 am at St. Andrew Catholic Chruch. Services will conclude at that time.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hernandez, Ed LaGrange, Chris Pacheco, Danny Ray Herrera, Tony Ramos and Frank Ramos. Honorary pallbearer will be Alec Vera.
