With a heavy heart, I share the passing of my twin brother, Jose "Joe" G. Herrera who went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Joe and I were born December 8th, 1962, at Mercy Hospital in Jourdanton, Texas. Jose was not only a brother but a constant playmate, friend and confidant.

Growing up with a twin meant having someone to listen to the radio, 45's and LP's. We always had each other. Joe had a surprising sense of humor, even on his last day, he had Diana and me in stitches. Joe enjoyed music of all genres, loved collecting movies and watching WWE wrestling when they came to San Antonio. Joe worked for Pleasanton ISD on different Campuses for 31 years. He enjoyed having a vegetable garden, having BBQs and hosting family events.

Joe is preceded in death by our parents Elvira Gonzales Herrera and Nicasio Esparza Herrera; brothers Roman Herrera (Juanita), and Albert Herrera, Nicasio Herrera Jr. (Yolanda) and Abelino Herrera; sisters Felice H. Aguilar and Eva Herrera; nephew Conrad Herrera; and brother-in-law Valdemar Gonzales.

Joe was survived by his twin sister Mary H. Baeza (Asael), Rosa H. Aguilar (Blas), and Diana H. Gonzales; brothers Samuel Herrera (Nelida), Adam Herrera, and Augustin Herrera (Amy); sister-in-law, Virginia Herrera, and brother-in-law, Gregorio Aguilar .

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home.  The viewing will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Hurley's Funeral Home. Following the viewing we will process to the cemetery in Poteet and will depart from the funeral home. Graveside service will be 10:00 am at San Pedro Cemetery on Rutledge Road, Poteet, Texas.
