It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Luis Sosa Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on June 21, 1954, in Mexico, Jose made his home in Leming, Texas, where he lived a life rich in love, laughter, and family devotion. He left us peacefully on September 19, 2025, at the age of 71.

Jose was a dedicated family man whose life revolved around those he cherished most. He was often found in the bleachers, proudly cheering on his grandkids during their games, and he thrived during weekend barbecues, where he brought everyone together with his outstanding cooking and infectious laughter. Jose had a special bond with his best friend and great-nephew, Jessie Garcia Jr., as well as with his brother, Enrique Sosa Sr. Whether it was sharing a cold beer on the porch or reminiscing about the past, they filled each other's lives with joy and camaraderie.

Jose is survived by his daughters Luz Sosa-Garcia (Jeronimo "Jerome" Rubio), Liza Marie Sosa and Kloie Lee Sosa (Hector Serrano); sons Jose Luis Sosa Jr, Leonard Sosa (Laura), Fernando Sosa (Andrea) and John Michael Sosa; siblings Raul Sosa Sr. (San Juanita), Irma Sosa Renteria, Candelario Sosa Sr. (Tomasa), Juana Sosa Renteria, Concepcion Sosa Renteria, Maria Socorro Sosa, Enrique Sosa Sr. (Natividad), Victoria Mendez (Juan), and Florentino Sosa Renteria (Jazmin); grandchildren Abigail Renae Sosa, Gabriella Grace Sosa, Leonard Rey Sosa, Ryleigh Claire Sosa, Calleigh Harper Sosa, Krystopher Sosa, Ezra Sosa, Jayvon Sosa, Hector Serrano III, Aiden Luis Sosa, Camilla Rae Sosa and Nevaeh Sosa; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Jose found community not just in his family but also through his faith. As we gather to honor his legacy, we will celebrate a life lived fully, guided by love and commitment to those he held dear.

Rest in peace, Jose. Your legacy of love and laughter will forever live in our hearts.

Jose was preceded in death by his beloved wife Yolanda Sosa, mother Concepcion Sosa, and father Florentino Sosa.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Hurley Funeral Home, starting with a visitation from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm.  Mass will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Leming, starting at 10:00 am followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
