Josephine Lucille (Kindla-Woitaske) Bridges of Pleasanton passed away at her residence on Friday, July 24, 2026. She was born on November 15, 1943, in Leming, Texas, to Florian "Floyd" and Lucille (Dylla) Kindla.

She is survived by her loving husband, Berry Bridges; her children, Donna Respondek and husband Gerald, and James Woitaske and wife Melanie; her stepdaughter, Loretta Holley and husband Lee; her brother, Alfred Kindla and wife Karen; her sisters, Rosemary Albert and Barbara Neal and husband Tom; her grandchildren, Brooke Hall and husband Will, Nathan Respondek and fiancée Hailey Salmans, Brianna Woitaske and fiancé Tristen Osuna, Rusty Holley, April Espericueta, and Brandon Holley; her great-granddaughter on the way, Baby Girl Hall; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Floyd Kindla; her first husband, Jerome Woitaske; and her stepdaughter, Zoe Hinton.

Josephine was born in Leming, Texas, where she attended Leming School and later graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1962. Growing up, she worked alongside her siblings on the family farm, learning the values of hard work, faith, and perseverance. Despite the demands of farm life, she found time to excel in athletics. A gifted athlete, Josephine was a standout track star and played basketball and volleyball.

After graduating, Josephine moved to San Antonio, where she began her career at Frost Bank. Her love of music and dancing led her to the High Ho Corral, where she met the love of her life, Jerome Woitaske. They were married on July 10, 1965, and together welcomed two children, Donna and James. Josephine and Jerome made their home in San Antonio until 1976, when they fulfilled a dream by building their home in Leming, returning to the town that had always held a special place in Josephine's heart. The family also treasured spending time together with relatives and friends at the Woitaske family's Lake LBJ home, creating many cherished memories. In 1979, tragedy struck when Jerome passed away unexpectedly, leaving Josephine with two young children to raise. Guided by her unwavering faith, extraordinary strength, and boundless love, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. She taught her children to trust in God, pray faithfully, love Jesus, embrace life's blessings, and always cherish the gift of family. Those values became the foundation of her life and a legacy for generations to come.

Josephine found love once again with Berry Bridges, a wonderful dance partner who put the "two" back in her country/western two-step. They were married on October 24, 1987, and shared a joyful life filled with love, a lot of dancing, music, laughter, Texas A&M sports, and adventure.

Josephine worked as the payroll accountant for Pleasanton ISD until her retirement. She and Berry shared a passion for traveling the world, often combining their travels with visits to estate sales, antique shops, and Branson, Missouri, for musical shows and theatrics. Their appreciation for history, craftsmanship, and timeless treasures inspired them to open and operate J B Bridges Antiques, a business they enjoyed together for many years.

Josephine will be remembered for her deep faith, kind and generous heart, gentle spirit, sweet smile, beautiful blue eyes, and a genuine desire to bring peace and joy to those around her. She had a true passion for gardening and found great happiness in cultivating beautiful flowers and vegetables. Her flourishing gardens were a reflection of her loving nature, with vibrant bougainvilleas, striking bird-of-paradise, and colorful petunias that brought beauty to everyone who visited.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Throughout the years, she was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Las Gallinas, St. Benedict's Catholic Church in San Antonio, St. Luke's Catholic Church in Loire, and for many years, St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Parishioners looked forward to hearing her beautiful voice in the choir each Sunday and admired the care and creativity she poured into decorating the church altar. She also faithfully attended services with Berry at First Baptist Church.

Josephine's compassion extended far beyond her family and church. She possessed a caring and generous heart and quietly supported many charitable organizations, especially St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Boys Town. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word, or brighten someone's day with her warm smile.

Above all, Josephine loved her family deeply. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, resilience, kindness, and grace.

Even during her courageous battle with cancer, Josephine faced every challenge with remarkable strength, determination, and unwavering faith. She never gave up and remained an inspiration to all who knew her. Her loving and gentle spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her. Her life's testimony was an enduring encouragement to us all—to let our light shine brightly before others, so that they may see our good works and give glory to God.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and the Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Leming.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can go to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Boys Town - both are organizations that Josephine and Berry supported and contributed to for decades.
