Josie Ramos Berrones passed away at her home on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the age of 83.  She was born in Charlotte on June 7, 1942, to Carlos Ramos and Maurica (Camarrillo) Ramos.

Josie was as straightforward as they come, always telling it like it is with a humor that brightened up even the dullest of days. You could often find her enjoying a good smoke, with tunes playing in the background, or cheering on her favorite show, *Walker, Texas Ranger*.

A remarkable cook, her kitchen was always filled with love and laughter, and her famous meals will be sorely missed by her family.

Above all, Josie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She poured her heart into her family, leaving behind her daughter, Barbara De La Garza, who carries on her spirit.

Josie is survived by her daughters, Barbara De La Garza (George) and Irene Fernandez (Frank); granchildren, Ricardo De La Garza, Patricia Smith (Frank), Laura Rivera (Paul Maldonado), Ruben Anthony Rivera (Skye Vincent), Shelly Fernandez, Jennifer Hernandez (Kevin), Vanessa Leal (Robert), Jessica Carrillo, Briana Berrones, Brittany Berrones, and Brilee Berrones; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Nora Tijerina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Barbarito Berrones; daughter, Diana Garcia; son, Robert Berrones; brothers, Pete Martinez, David Martinez and Tim Ramos.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, November 6, 2025, all at Hurley Funeral Home, starting with a visitation at 9:00 am, a reciting of the rosary at 10:30 am, and a prayer service at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow at Madre Dolorosa #1 in Poteet.
