Juan Gilberto Factor (69) of Pleasanton, Texas was called home on Friday, April 5, 2024, surrounded by his family, and loved ones.

Juan, better known as Gilbert, was born in Laredo on April 17, 1954, to Maria Candelaria Bautista and Gonzalo Factor Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, along with his sisters, Belia Vaughn and Maria Factor-Bedoy.

He is survived by his children: son, Adam (Rebecca) Factor, daughter, Emily Irene Factor, and daughter, Marissa (Michael) Garza. Grandchildren, Adam Alexander, Marcus Xavier, Selena Nicole, Autumn Brooke, Adeline Rose and Eleanor Inez. Brothers, Gonzalo Jr. (Ellie) Factor, Jose Luis (Pamela) Factor, and Gerardo (Laura) Factor. Sisters, Oralia Factor, and Irene (Humberto Jr.) Valdez. He had many nieces and nephews, all whom he loved dearly.

Gilbert was a beloved certified optician for 45+ years. Starting his profession with Dietz-McLean optical in 1974 and rising to regional manager, opening several locations, which took him all over South Texas. He is most notably known for being at Atascosa Vision Source in Pleasanton and the Walmart Vision Center in Devine since first moving to Pleasanton in 1990.

Gilbert was elected president of the Pleasanton Lion's Club from '92-'93 and 4th degree Knights of Columbus with Saint Andrew's Catholic Church. He loved his Spurs, Cowboys, and The Beatles music. He would say he was a "fan not a fanatic." On his free time when he wasn't working on his cars, making others laugh, reading the Sunday paper, or being an amateur inventor, he was playing pool in many teams/tournaments for Atascosa County.

Gilbert will be missed but never forgotten. As he would say "If today you forgive your yesterdays, you will have a beautiful tomorrow."

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, starting with a visitation from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, with the rosary being recited at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for cards or donations.
