Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Juanita Gloria Casias, a beloved sister, devoted friend, and cherished member of our community. Born on October 25, 1960, in Rossville, Texas, Juanita lived a life filled with kindness and warmth until she departed from this world on January 6, 2025.

Juanita dedicated over 25 years of her life to working in the cardiology department at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, where her compassionate care and gentle spirit left a profound impact on countless patients and colleagues. A true embodiment of a good heart, she was known for her unwavering positivity, often responding to inquiries about her well-being with a simple, "I am fine."

In her leisure time, Juanita found joy in listening to gospel music, enjoying the companionship of her beloved cats, savoring meals with family and friends, and engaging in her favorite pastime—playing games on her phone. Her love for life was as infectious as her laughter, and those who knew her will always remember the warmth she brought into every room.

Juanita leaves behind her sisters Alice Santillan, Elida Carrasco, Mary Ann Cortez, and Evangelina Casias (Armando Alva);  her brother Jimmy Casias; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relative.

As we honor her life and legacy, the community is invited to join us in public viewing at St. Andrew Catholic Church on January 17, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM. A rosary will follow at 12:00 PM, leading into a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM. Juanita will then be laid to rest at Casias Cemetery.

May Juanita Gloria Casias rest in peace, forever remembered for her loving nature and the profound impact she made on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Casias, Ernest Cortez, Eustacio Cortez, Andres Lucio, Johnny Cardinas, and Jesus Martinez.

Juanita was preceded in death by parents Alejos and Rebecca Casias; and brother Joe Alejos Casias.
