With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Janie Escamilla. She was called to eternal rest on January 27th, 2024, at age of 66, surrounded by her beloved family. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Janie loved spending time with her family and grand babies. She looked forward to watching all their milestones and seeing them grow. Janie always looked forward to holidays when all her family would get together. Her daughter, Gladys, took care of her day in and day out and she appreciated her so much. Helen, her sister, kept her company and loved her surprise visits and long late-night talks.

She had an amazing amount of love and support from everyone. The list would go on forever if we thanked each and every one individually. Anyone that knew her knew she was a fighter. She was fighting cancer and fought Covid. She pushed hard every day to get better, to be the rock of the family. She left peacefully knowing we would all love one another and stick together as she wanted.

Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Pablo C. Escamilla; and parents, Edward and Soyla Guerra.

She is survived by her daughter, Gladys E. Cantu (Randy); son, Angel Rey Escamilla; grandchildren, Paul Anthony Peña, Destinee Espinoza (Richard), Angelina J. Cantu and Selene S. Cantu; great-grandchildren, Addison R. Espinoza, Ayden J. Espinoza and Axcel R. Espinoza; sister, Helen Brown Guerra; and special nephew, Wayne Guerra.

Services for Janie are scheduled for Thursday, February 1, 2024, starting with a visitation in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Services will conclude at that time.
