Juanita Hinojosa, 87, of Poteet, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 31, 2023. She was born on May 16, 1936, in Ville De Fuente Coahuila, Mexico to Leandro Guereca and Rosaura Sanchez Guereca.

Juanita desired the American Dream for her future children, and she made that happen with hard work and dedication. She married the love of her life, Manuel, and after 13 years of marriage she received her first miracle child that she never ceased praying for, after that there were three more blessings. Juanita loved children and during the first 13 years of their marriage she poured her motherly instincts into her nieces and nephews, who she adored. There is something about a mother's love and the moment she was blessed with her children of her own, she focused all her attention on ensuring they had everything she could possibly give to them. She taught her children about hard work and dedication not just by what she said, but also how she lived her life, always busy providing for her family.

She had a green thumb and a natural way with plants, and she used this skill to grow her own plants with her husband's help. She made it a family experience, loading up all the plants and even a grandchild or two and hauling them to the flea market on the weekends. She started a nursery business with her son and her daughter-in-law and opened the Brush Country Garden Center in Pleasanton, which sadly had to be closed years back due to her health.

Juanita was a pistol of a lady; independent, and strong headed with a perfect blend of a loving and caring spirit. She loved to talk to people and easily became a "mom" to children. Her life revolved around her children, then her grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. After her husband's passing in 2000, she became active with Hosanna Baptist Church and thoroughly looked forward to coming together with the other members for food and fellowship until her health started to decline more. Juanita left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leandro Guereca and Rosaura Sanchez Guereca; husband,

Manuel Hinojosa; son, Jose Manuel Hinojosa; brothers, Gonzalo Guereca, Fransico Guereca, Gregrorio Guereca, and Candilario Gueraca; sisters, Margarita Morena, Maria Presentacio Munoz and six (6) half siblings.

She is survived by her daughters, Lorena Dominguez and husband Jose, Araceli "Sally" Sandoval and husband David, son, Juan Manuel Hinojosa and wife Norma; grandchildren, Adam Ramon and wife Delmy, Leslee Quistiano and husband Cristian, Lindsay Malhotra and husband Neil, Brianna McCarrell,

Marissa Hinojosa, John Manuel Hinojosa, Angelina Olivares and husband Mark, Isaiah Sandoval, Isabel Sandoval and Mariama McKinney and husband Sam; great-grandchildren, Aralia, Mica, Alexander, Mila, and Misha Olivares, Beau McCarrell, Andy Ramon, Levi Quistiano, Zaviah McKinney and Benaiah Sanchez; brothers, Daniel, Ignacio "Nacho", and Jose Guereca; sisters, Dora Moyeda, Maria Delgado, Graciela Gonzales, Pasquala Galvan and Socorro Rodriguez; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. There will then be a short celebration of life Monday, August 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at First Memorial Park Cemetery in Von Ormy.
