Julia
Wilson
Aug 5, 1954 — Feb 11, 2023
Poteet
Julia Wilson was called home by the Lord on February 11, 2023, after a battle with cancer. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Up to her very last days, she continued to nurture her precious family, caring for grandchildren and cooking for her entire clan. Gammie created an atmosphere of love, Her table was never empty, whether it was sweets or people. When gathered at her table, there was always love, laughter, and good food. Her love language was feeding people, and some of her family might argue, "by looking at us, she did it too well." She was a fierce caretaker and could think of everything, like chip clips on vacation. She loved nothing more than her family and showed it every single day through her selflessness and generosity. Many times, her love carried on beyond her family and friends to neighbor kids, her students and many others. She also deeply loved and was loved by many of her friends and always made sure they stayed connected no matter the distance.
Julia worked as a teacher for 35 years before retiring to focus on her grandchildren. 33 of those years were dedicated to Poteet ISD, in the community where the Wilson's made their permanent home.
Julia Ann Ploch was born August 5th, 1954 in Three Rivers, Texas. She was married for 48 years to her beloved husband, Rocky. They have three children: Rocky Wilson Jr and wife Amy, Matthew Wilson, Hailey Stimpson and her husband Michael, all of Poteet, Texas. Nothing was more dear to Gammie than her grandchildren, Ashlee, Jason, Nathan Wilson, Michaela, Cailey and Claralise Stimpson and great grandchildren, Micah, Aiden and Helena. She is also survived by her siblings, Mollie Walker of Orange Grove, Robin Curbello of Corpus Christi, Warren Ploch of San Antonio, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by parents Jake and Mozelle Ploch of Three Rivers, Texas, niece Lori Walker and nephew Harrison Curbello.
