Larry Joe Benitez

Larry Joe Benitez, a loving father, hard worker, and a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 19, 2023, at the age of 68. He was born on November 16, 1954, in Poteet, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Maria Benitez; sisters Dorothy Gonzalez and Willis Benitez; brother Chris Benitez; and 2 grandsons Alexander Jones and Jeremy Rodriguez.

Larry, known for his compassionate nature and sarcastic sense of humor, leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He will be fondly remembered by his daughter Marissa Benitez-Jones, his sons Mark Benitez (Cyndi) and Mike Benitez, his brother Jesse Benitez, and his sister Emily Benitez. Larry was also blessed with the joy of being a grandfather to his granddaughters Ashley Benitez, Sabrina Benitez, Angelina Benitez, and grandson Lincoln Jones. He was a proud great-grandfather to Elyanna Benitez and Isac Carr; along with numerous nieces and nephews and a special place in his heart for his nephew Mario Mejia with his wife Christina

Outside of being a proud father and grandfather, Larry had a passion for baseball, often showcasing his skills on the field during his younger years. In his spare time, he enjoyed breeding roosters and was known for his expertise in this niche area. Larry was also a talented musician, adept at playing both the guitar and saxophone. His musical talents, along with his smooth dance moves, created many memorable moments shared with family and friends.

In honoring Larry's memory, a funeral service and ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, TX. Close friends, family members, and community members will be invited to join in celebrating his life beginning at 1:00 p.m. for visitation, 3:30 p.m. reciting of the rosary and 4:00 p.m. funeral service. The service will be a reflection of the vibrant spirit that defined Larry, showcasing his love for music, laughter, and cherished memories.

Larry Joe Benitez touched the lives of many with his kind heart, witty humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Hurley Funeral Home towards his funeral expenses.
