Larry James Pippen, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024.  He was born to Bernadina and Butler Pippen on June 15th, 1935 in Brownsville, TX.

Larry grew up in Marfa, Texas and graduated from Marfa High School.  He graduated from Sul Ross State University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Larry served as the Assistant Manager and Director of Finance for the city of Alpine, Tx from 1973-1977.  He served as Assistant City Manager, Director of Finance and City Secretary for the city of Lockhart from 1977-1980.  Larry was City Manager of Giddings, TX from 1980-1988.  He became City Manager of Pleasanton, TX from 1988-1999.  Larry Pippen was also Interim City Manager in Pearsall, Poteet, and Karnes City.

Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue; and his children Bobby (Gloria), Roger (Christi), Kelly, Dwayne (Carolyn); 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.  He is also survived by his sister Cindy Pippen, and many other family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother Bernadina and stepfather Chuy Perez; father Butler Pippen and stepmother Maudine Pippen; grandsons Michael James Pippen, Timothy Pippen and Angel Pippen; great grandson Wyatt Grier; brother Butler Pippen; sister Charlene Rasor; in-laws Paul and Hazel Wofford and many other family members.

Larry loved his family above measure and was always there for them, he was a very caring and loving person. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling.

A viewing will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 6:30 p.m.  Thursday, June 27th, 2024 there will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeway Cemetery located at 153 Ridgeway Cemetery Rd. Paige, Texas 78659.
