Leonardo Casias, Jr, 69, passed away on January 19, 2023 in Jourdanton, TX.  He was born on June 6, 1953 to Leonardo Casias Sr and Guadalupe Casias.  He grew up on a farm in Rossville where he learned strong work ethics and what it meant to get up early and go to bed late.  After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army as a Communications Specialist.  Leonardo proudly served his country for twenty years including time in Desert Storm before retiring honorably.  After returning home, he decided to go back to college to pursue teaching and eventually receive his Bilingual Certification.  Leonardo had the honor of serving on the Poteet City Counsel for several years, he was a hard worker, disciplined and dedicated to everything he did.  He was a loving man that enjoyed playing pool and especially loved dancing.

Leonardo is survived by his daughter Erica N. Casias; son Leonardo Casias III; daughter Poinsettia Casias; ex-wife and beloved friend Irma Casias; sisters Yolanda Hernandez (Jesus), Elvia Mendez (Smiley), and Gracie Guerra (Ruben); brothers Arturo Casias (Gloria), and Harvey Casias (Melissa); grandchildren Angelica Casias, Panfilo Sanchez, Enrique "EE" Sanchez, and Ariana Castillo; great-grandchildren Anaira Casias, Aiden Sanchez, Amdrid Leal, Azel Sanchez and Lucas Leal; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Domingo Casias and Jesus Casias Sr.

Services will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 with visitation from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm, and funeral services at 7:30 pm all at Hurley Funeral Home.
