Lily Araiza Ybarra Gonzales, age 84 of Pleasanton, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born in San Antonio, on Friday, January 19, 1940, to Pedro and Eloisa (Araiza) Ybarra.

Lily is survived by her daughter, Diana Esqueda and husband Gilbert; sons, Jose Angel Gonzales Jr. and wife Nancy, Jose Luis Gonzales and wife Celia, and Jose Gonzalo Gonzales and wife Monica; brothers, Pedro Ybarra Jr. and wife Celia, and Ray Ybarra and wife Nancy, and sisters, Delia Y. Lozano, Eva Araiza Ybarra, Yolanda Araiza Ybarra, and Ruby Araiza Ybarra. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lily was preceded in death by her parents, son, Clemente Garcia Jr.; daughters, Leticia Maria Garcia, and Lily Gonzales; sister, Gloria Y. Villarreal; brother, David Ybarra, and husband, Rene Salazar.

Lily loved her family. She always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She loved to tell them funny stories, she loved to laugh with them, and sing for them.

Some of Lily's interests included crocheting, gardening, and sewing. Lily crocheted caps, headbands, shawls, and beautiful blankets for herself and family members. She sewed dresses for her granddaughters and even made masks during the pandemic, which she happily gave away. When she was in good health she enjoyed being outside working on her yard and caring for her many plants and flowers.

However, Lily was especially known for her love of music. She was a talented singer, songwriter, and musician. Self-taught, she learned to play many instruments to include the bajo sexto, guitar, accordion, and piano. Her love for music stems from being part of a musically talented family. When she was young, Lily and her sister, Gloria (Villarreal), known as "Hermanitas Ybarra," often performed duets on live radio, theater, and television.

As an adult, she performed in variety shows that included well known Conjunto and Mariachi musicians. Lily's stage name was "Flor del Campo" and she was a member of the association of Alpha Artists of California. A special event was prepared in her honor to recognize "the very popular and inspired singer and composer Lily Gonzales." Later in life, she collaborated with her sister Eva (Ybarra), writing songs, including Christian music, and performing together. The memorial video includes songs she wrote and sang.

Lily lived a long and fulfilling life and expressed her contentment by saying "I'm rich, even though other people might not think so, I am rich."

Lily's children want to express appreciation for the caregivers who lovingly cared for their mother. In addition, the love and support shown by many family members who visited her, brought her flowers, and gifts.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Hurley Funeral Home, starting at 4:00 pm, with a prayer service, eulogy, and family singing at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 12:00 pm led by Pastor Ray Ybarra, with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
