It is with both sorrow and celebration of a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Lloyd House, a beloved ranch manager, dedicated community member, and cherished family man. Born in Charlotte, Texas, Lloyd entered this world on September 1, 1938, and spent his final days in Pleasanton, Texas, before passing peacefully on January 28, 2025.

Lloyd's commitment to the ranching industry was evident throughout his life. As a respected ranch manager, he dedicated his days to nurturing both the land and the livestock under his care, a vocation he cherished deeply. For many years he provided ranchers assistance by clearing land and building stock tanks.  His leadership extended beyond the ranch; Lloyd served in various capacities as Director and President of the Farm Bureau, a former Director and Past President of the Atascosa Cattleman's Association, and Atascosa County Committee Member of the USDA FSA office for two terms, serving as Chairperson one term.   He was also a director of the Conservation Contractors' Association of Texas and held all offices – Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President.  His contributions to the agricultural community were profound, and his legacy will be felt for years to come.

A devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church for 66 years, Lloyd passionately served in numerous ministries, including the Church Council. His faith was a guiding light in his life, influencing his actions and relationships with others in the community.

Lloyd's servant heart extended to other endeavors as well.  For many years he served as a Charlotte volunteer firefighter to help protect people and their property in the community and surrounding areas.  He was an active member of SPJST, serving as Vice President and President locally and at the district level.  He attended many SPJST events and enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in youth activities.  He was awarded SPJST's highest honor as the 2011 State Fraternalism for his volunteer contributions to his lodge, community, and state.

Outside of his professional and spiritual commitments, Lloyd found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid deer hunter and fisherman, he adored spending time outdoors, sharing his passions with his beloved grandchildren as they made cherished memories on hunting and fishing trips together. He was known for his easy-going nature; a hardworking man who always knew how to slow down and appreciate the beautiful moments in life.

Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bettie Lou Valchar House, who stood by his side through the years; son, Richard Anthony House; daughter, Sandra Kay House Hoggard; grandchildren, Eric Lloyd House and his wife Kathryn, Tiffany Michele House, Michael Lane Hoggard, Samuel Lloyd Hoggard, and Amanda Elizabeth Hoggard; 2 great-grandchildren, Luke Anthony House and Avery Michele House; brother, Arley House and his wife Sue; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, James L. (Jim) House and Stella Childress House; brothers, Billy House and Jimmy House; sisters, Virginia House Pawelek and Arline House Fisher; and daughter-in-law, Cherri Michele House.

Lloyd House leaves behind a legacy rich in love, faith, and dedication—a testament to the life of a remarkable man. He will be deeply missed yet always remembered in the hearts of those he inspired.

A visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 6, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (family in attendance from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025, followed by burial at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Jourdanton.

Serving as Lloyd's pallbearers are Eric House, Lane Hoggard, Sam Hoggard, Bobby House, James House, and Jake Pawelek and serving as Honorary pallbearers are Wayne House, Pete J. Pawelek, Jesse Pawelek, Eldon Brauchle, Ray Harriger, Charlie Huizer, Mark Schumacher, Joey Casey, Woode Henry, and Gary O'Riley.
