Obituary

LaLoyce "Lolly" Porter, aged 93, passed away on August 23, 2024, in Jourdanton, TX. Born on January 5, 1931, in Hillsboro, TX, she lived a life marked by devotion to family and community.

Lolly was a beacon of love and service, deeply involved in her family, church, and community. Her home was the heart of family gatherings, and she cherished hosting holidays and Bible studies. She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for many years at the John Deere dealership that Jeff managed. A long-time active member of Pearsall Methodist Church, she contributed significantly, serving as the finance chairman, chairman of the Care and Nurture Committee, and on various other committees and projects. Lolly's commitment extended beyond her church; she was highly involved in Christian Women's Club, a bookkeeper for the Frio County Jr Livestock show, a reading buddy at local schools, served on the board of CASA, helped at the Frio County Jail Museum, volunteered at the hospital admissions desk and the Child Care food pantry.  She liked dogs, being with her family, helping her son work cattle, travelling, playing 'Nickels' at Argent Court, and eating chocolate, which she preferred not to share.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her children Linda Lu (Porter) Burris, William Jefferson Porter and wife Cindy, and Margaret Ann (Porter) Aldis and husband Brad. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Shari Burris Taake and husband Warren, Brant Burris and wife Polly, Will Porter and wife Ruth, Luke Porter and wife Renee, Sarah Beth (Clark) Oelze and husband Garrett, Coby Clark and wife Katie, and Mason Clark, as well as her great-grandchildren Hannah, Nathan, and Jonah Taake, Jeff and Ty Burris, Garrett, London and Laney Porter and Liam Oelze.  Lolly was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Ercelle Jones, her brother Danny Jones and wife Gloria and her beloved husband, William Jefferson Porter, whom she met on a blind date set up by her mother and his cousin.

A memorial service will be held at Jourdanton Methodist Church on Sunday, September 1st at 4:00 pm, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.  Graveside services will be held at Pearsall Cemetery on Monday, September 2nd at 9:30 am.
