With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Louis Badillo, a kind and loving man of great faith and deep devotion to his family. Surrounded by his loved ones, Louis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Charlotte, Texas, on October 12, 1934, to Everardo and Romana (Cantu) Badillo, Louis lived a life deeply rooted in faith, love, and service to others.

From a young age, Louis exemplified a strong work ethic, shining shoes at just seven years old. Life's challenges led him to work in the fields, prioritizing family responsibilities over his education. He also worked at a grocery store in Charlotte, where his commitment to family and community was evident.

In 1950, while working in the fields, Louis met the love of his life, Eva Cumpian. They married in 1955 and became known as exceptional dancers. In 1959, Louis began his career as a painter in Lubbock, Texas, establishing himself as a respected and well-known figure in the community. Together, Louis and Eva built a life defined by hard work, enduring love, and devotion to their family. Their partnership thrived both on and off the dance floor, creating a bond that inspired everyone who knew them.  As a grandfather and great grandfather, Louis always had a story to tell, lessons to share, and eyes that twinkled with mischief. His playful banter and contagious laugh will forever live on.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his cherished wife, Eva; and his brothers, Frank, Trinidad, and Ysidro Badillo.
Louis leaves behind a family who adored him and will carry forward his legacy: his sons, Freddy Badillo (Olivia), Joe Luis Badillo (Sonia), and Jaime Badillo; his daughters, Diana Badillo, adopted daughter Dinorah Uribe, Rosa Elia (Rosie) Lopez (Israel), and Patricia Murillo (Mario). He was a proud grandfather to Rusty, Salina, Xavier, Leah, Anthony Badillo, Julia Gray, Marissa Murillo Morales, Marco, Gabriel Murillo, and Noe and Angelica Lopez; and a great-grandfather to Jacob, Noelani, Keira, Ryan Lopez, A.J., Ryder, Luella, Charlee Ann Badillo, and Samuel and Ava Morales.

A man of profound faith, Louis was a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. His belief in God was a source of strength and guidance for his family and friends.  His gentle nature, warm smile, and kind words touched the lives of all who were blessed to know him.
Services to honor Louis' remarkable life will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will follow on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Charlotte. Burial to be held at the Joe Cumpian Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Louis' grandsons, Rusty Badillo, Xavier Badillo, Anthony Badillo, Marco Murillo, Gabriel Murillo, and Jaime Morales. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Lopez, AJ Badillo, and Samuel Morales.

Louis will forever be remembered as a man of faith, family, and integrity. His life was a beautiful reflection of the values he lived every day, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
