Proverbs 31:28-29 - Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."

Margaret (Hartsell) Finch passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in Waco, Texas. She was born on Wednesday, April 29, 1942, in San Antonio to John and Jewell (McShan) Hartsell.

Margaret grew up in Cotulla with her parents, brother, John Mac and twin sister, Mary. She graduated from Cotulla High School in 1960. She then married Clyde Edward Finch on July 15, 1960, where they built a loving home in Charlotte, Texas for their 5 rambunctious children (4 rambunctious and 1 sneaky princess). Margaret's husband of 39 years, Clyde Finch, passed in September 1999.

Margaret was a devoted wife and loving mother. She took pride in being a full-time homemaker, where she showered her family with love and attention. She was active in school and Children's Church Choir, and she was also an adult leader on many Alto Frio trips, where she would take ceramic figures for activities with the children at the Alto Frio Church Camp. Margaret was also active with the PTA and band parents throughout her children's scholastic journey.

Margaret and her husband, Clyde built a life together bound by their strong Christian Faith. They were also members of the Fraternal Organization of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Freemasons (Masons), where they obtained the level of Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron.

If you had the privilege of meeting Margaret, you know the depth of her pride and love for her entire family. Her warmth, encouragement, and unwavering spirit touched all who knew her. Her children have many fond memories of road trips (and arguments) while traveling to many different states, while their summers filled with trips to the river and spending time with family. Margaret was well known for her love of pranks, her infectious smile, her witty comebacks and eye rolls. She passed her famous eye roll technique to all her daughters.

Family lovingly remembers meals with her at the big table, family trips on the river, Rockport beach trips, trips across state lines, Easter egg hunts, chaotic family photos, and their highly competitive board and card games. Her grandchildren remember her for her cookies, Hi-C drinks, watching her soap operas and Grey's Anatomy together, picking pecans, watering plants together and Sunday School trips.

Margaret is survived by her children; son, Lawrence E. Finch (and his sons); daughter, Lisa Routt and husband David (and their children); daughter, Mary Margaret Finch (and her children); and son-in-law, Daniel Love (and his sons), as well as her beloved great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jewell Hartsell; twin sister, Mary (Hartsell) Gerecke; brother, John Mac Hartsell; husband, Clyde Finch; daughter, Cynthia E. Finch; daughter, Lee (Finch) Love, and grandson, CJ Finch.

A visitation and celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Charlotte First Baptist Church at 173 Yule Avenue in Charlotte, Texas 78011, starting with a visitation at 5:00 pm followed by the service at 6:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret requested that people send plants or make donations payable to First Baptist Church in Charlotte (mail to: 173 S Yule Avenue, Charlotte, TX 78011) or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/). You are invited to wear any shade of blue in honor of Margaret, as that was her favorite color.
