It is with profound sorrow and loving memory that we announce the passing of Margaret Keen, a beloved wife, mother, sister, nana and friend, who left us peacefully at her home in Poteet, Texas, on Monday, January 22, 2024.

Margaret was born on June 12, 1976, in Welch, West Virginia, and spent her earlier years in the quaint and close-knit community of Anawalt, West Virginia.  In Anawalt, Margaret was surrounded by a host of relatives and warm-hearted neighbors, that developed her appreciation for the simpler, more meaningful aspects of life, and a strong commitment to family values, which she carried with her throughout her life.

Margaret's journey was one marked by simplicity, joy and diligence.  From her teenage years, she worked tirelessly in various fast food and retail jobs, embodying a work ethic that both inspired and uplifted those around her.  Her infectious laughter and unwavering spirit were a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her.  Margaret carried the cherished name of her grandmother, Margaret Kelly, whose traits of hard work, culinary excellence, and family devotion Margaret emulated throughout her life.

A connoisseur of life's simple pleasures, Margaret found her greatest happiness in dancing to the rhythms of music, crafting delicious dishes in the kitchen, and most importantly, in the warm embrace of her family.  Her love for cooking wasn't just a hobby but a means of bringing people together, creating moments of joy and togetherness.

As Margaret's journey took her from Anawalt to Poteet, Texas, she carried with her the essence of her hometown.  Margaret's life was beautifully enriched by the love and companionship of Brad, who she was fortunate to meet and with whom she shared a profound and enduring love. Together, they exemplified true partnership and mutual respect, setting an example of love and unity for all who knew them. Through her marriage to Brad, Margaret lovingly embraced Erica as her own daughter, a relationship that blossomed into a deep and meaningful bond.

More than anything, Margaret cherished her role as a Nana.  She possessed a magical touch when it came to nurturing and caring for her grandchildren, earning her the title of "best nana in the world."  Whether it was telling them about the next big adventure with nana or baking sweet treats together, Margaret shared countless treasured moments with her grandchildren, creating memories that will forever remain etched in their hearts.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Colon (Washington, DC) and Linda King (San Antonio, Texas), who died on December 16, 2016.

Margaret is survived by her best friend and husband, Brad Keen; children, Shawnta Holbrook (Bernard), Roderick King, James Paul Keen, and Erica Littrell (Jared); brother, Thomas E. King; sisters, Tinita Elliott Miles, Shevon King, and Sheila Shah; grandchildren, Ma'lya King, Elizabeth Keen-Littrell, and Eric Keen-Littrell; uncle, Allen Kelly; nieces, T'Keyah Harp and Ta'Laya King; nephews, Demicko King, Talen Elliott Miles, Michael and Christopher; close cousins, Stephanie McDaniel and Deidra Kelly

In accordance with Margaret's wishes, she will have a private family service at Hurley Funeral Home, located at 118 West Oaklawn Road, Pleasanton, Texas 78064, where family will gather to honor her life and offer solace and support to one another.

To be with Margaret was to feel unequivocally welcomed and loved a testament to the depth of her care and affection for her family and friends.

Her legacy is carried on by her devoted family and all those whose lives she touched.  Margaret Kee, a name synonymous with love, laughter, and the bonds of family, will forever be remembered and cherished in the hearts of many.

As we bid farewell to Margaret, we found comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear, the stories we share, and the love she instilled in each of us.  Rest in peace, dear Margaret, your light will continue to shine in all of us.
