Obituary

Margarita Sanchez Garcia, 94, was surrounded by her family when she went to meet her Savior on May 3, 2022.  She was born on July 20, 1927 in Leming, TX to Catarino Sanchez and Juanita Huizar Sanchez.

For many years Margarita worked as a seamstress for Foree Manufacturing Company in San Antonio before moving on to Levi Strauss, where she eventually retired.  Margarita was never one to sit still and turned her talent and love for sewing into a hobby, making quilts for all her family.  However, quilting wasn't enough to occupy her time as she believed she still had so much to do, so much to give back. She was a strong-willed woman who also believed there was no time to rest and wanted to live life to the fullest. After moving back to Pleasanton, to be closer to family she utilized her business savvy skills to get into the flipping homes industry where she became a successful entrepreneur. Being her own boss allowed her to spend time with family and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Margarita was a very Christian woman who loved and served the Lord.  In the early years, when she lived at Reed Street and busy being a wife and a loving mother, she loved tending to her rose garden.  On occasion the nuns from St Andrew's Catholic Church would collect roses from her to use in church services. In her later years she loved to go to weddings and family gatherings to dance.  She also enjoyed going on trips to the casinos with family and friends.

Margarita lived her life to fullest and treated each day as though it were her last. She lived a long life and just like her roses will be remembered for being so vibrant, bold, and full of life.

She is preceded in death by her parents Catarino and Janie Huizar Sanchez; siblings Lydia Gutierrez, Juanita Cruz, Estella Espinosa, Reymunda Hernandez, Guadalupe Cevallos, Gabriela Espinoza, and Albert C. Sanchez.

Margarita is survived by children Delia Leal (Joe), Diane Gonzales, Roy Garcia (Sylvia Ann), and Christine Garcia; grandchildren Ernest Leal (Adriana), Adolph Leal (Georgia), George Leal (Brandy), Melanie Smith (Stephen), Jo Ann Leal, Sammy Gonzales, Sylvia Sorola, Christopher Garcia (Melissa), Richard Garcia, Tami DeLuna, Traci Pogue (Jacob), Tina Mejia and sister Erminia Alfaro; 29 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews that loved her dearly and lifelong family friend Oralia Partida.

Her pallbearers will be her six grandsons' Ernest Leal, Adolph Leal, George Leal, Sammy Gonzales, Christopher Garcia, and Richard Garcia. Alternate pallbearer will be Michael Perez, grandnephew.

A visitation for Margarita will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, starting at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm.  Mass will be Friday, May 13, 2022, also at St. Andrew Catholic Church followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Leming.
