Margarita Llamas Zepeda passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at her home in Tempe, Arizona, at the age of 91. She was born on February 3, 1934, to Nieves and Herminia Llamas.

Margarita was the 3rd of ten children. She is survived by her brothers, JJ Llamas, Ines Llamas, and Roy Llamas, all of Campbellton, Texas, and her sister Oralia of Tilden, Texas.

She grew up in Campbellton, Texas, where she married the love of her life, Silvano Zepeda, in 1951. They shared 72 years of marriage before his passing in 2023. Their relationship was one of deep friendship, partnership, and enduring love—something rarely achieved in a lifetime. As a young bride, Margarita traveled across the United States with Silvano and their growing family while he worked on pipeline jobs. Eventually, they settled in Rosenberg, Texas, where they raised their family and built a life together.

In 1970, Margarita began working at the Richmond State School, where she remained until her retirement in 2017 at the age of 83. She took great pride in her work and formed many lasting friendships there. Margarita was known for her strong work ethic and attention to detail. She kept an impeccable home and approached every responsibility with care and dedication. She found her greatest joy in bringing family together, especially during the holidays, preparing large, beautiful meals and always the last to be seated to make sure everyone had what they needed.

Margarita loved dancing with Silvano, dressing up to attend parties, and cheering for the Houston Astros. Above all, she loved her family deeply and passionately loved her husband. She was a woman of faith who loved God and kept candles lit for those she loved. After Silvano's passing, she filled her days with phone calls, visits from loved ones, and word search books, though she grew lonely in the home where they had shared so many memories. In June of 2025, she relocated to Tempe, Arizona, near her daughter Yolanda.

Affectionately known as Mom and Mama to her children and Momo to her grandchildren, Margarita was also known as Magge by those closest to her. She will be remembered as having a great sense of humor, honest, stylish, and hardworking woman who was always there for others. She gave advice freely, checked in often, and served as a mentor and counselor to many. Margarita made sure everyone had what they needed—whether it was a place to stay, school clothes, food, or simply a shoulder to cry on. If she loved you, she defended you fiercely.

She is survived by her children: daughter Yolanda (Thomas) Colunga of Tempe, Arizona; daughter Olga Zepeda of Tempe, Arizona; and son Michael (Sheila) Zepeda of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her daughter Irene Zepeda (Gerardo) of Rosenberg, Texas, and her beloved husband Silvano Zepeda.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, David (Tara), Christopher, Nicholas, Tyler, Victoria, and Zachary, and her great-grandchildren, Ashley (Reid) and David Logan.

Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons in attendance.

All services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 365 St. Francis Avenue, Campbellton, Texas, on Saturday, January 10th. Viewing will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 12;30 p.m. and Mass at 1:00 p.m. A procession to Campbellton Cemetery will follow, where Margarita will be laid to rest beside her beloved Silvano. A reception will be held afterward at the Sacred Heart Church Hall.
