Marian M. Canion passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in her home in Jourdanton, Texas. Born on September 12, 1930, in Springdale, Arkansas to the loving parents Virgil Lewis Myers and Rosalie (Carman) Myers, Marian graced the world with her warmth and spirit for 95 remarkable years.

Marian's life was punctuated by love and laughter, made all the brighter by her devoted husband, Darrel Canion, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, her brother Everett Myers, her sister Virginia Happ, and her brothers-in-law Jack Canion, Milton Canion, Glen Canion and Jim Harris; and sister-in-law Cybil Courtney.

Marian leaves behind her adoring daughter, Diana Aguirre and her husband Frank; her son, Darrel Wayne Canion and his wife, Rita; her sister Janice Jackson; her sisters-in-law, Sue Olson and her husband Gene, Lois Canion, Gladys Harris, and Louise Myers; as well as her cherished grandson, Cody Canion, along with countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and treasured friends.

Marian lived a life filled with passion and purpose. She and Darrel shared a profound love for square dancing, delighting in its joyful rhythms as they danced together in Pleasanton and numerous other cities, taking home awards from several competitions. An avid reader, Marian held library cards from both Jourdanton and Pleasanton and often immersed herself in the world of books. Her creativity sparkled in her love for sewing, as she lovingly crafted her own square dance dresses, infusing each stitch with care.

In addition to her many passions, Marian embraced life's adventures alongside Darrel throughout his work in the oil field, making memories on the open road. Known for her friendly and uplifting spirit, she loved taking walks around her neighborhood, greeting everyone she encountered with a warm smile and a kind hello. Her independent and spirited nature allowed her to drive until 2024, a testament to her vibrant life.

As we reflect on her remarkable journey, we take solace in the belief that today, she is joyfully square dancing once again with her beloved husband, Darrel, reunited in a realm beyond our own.

Services are scheduled for Monday, January 19, 2026 at Hurley Funeral Home, starting at 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, a graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, starting at 10:00am.
