Obituary

Djenadi Cullen passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in Oklahoma
City, at the age of 72. She was the 3rd child of Jess Tandy Jr. and "Bette"
Elizabeth (Bishop) Mills. Born on January 31, 1952, in Pleasanton, Texas, she
grew up in this community where she played the flute in the marching band,
sang in the choir, and was even voted the titles of 'Best All Around Girl' and
'Most Talented Female Graduate of '69.
Djenadi graduated with honors from the University of Texas with bachelor's
degrees in German and Spanish, where at Campus Crusade meetings she met
her future husband, Mark Cullen. They were married in 1974 and settled in
Pleasanton. Once they had their first child in 1978, she dedicated herself to her
family, homeschooling her children and then working as a substitute teacher
and later for over 20 years working at the United States Postal Service, retiring
in 2015.
Although she faced the loss of her husband in 2018, Djenadi continued to
spread love and joy, especially during her time at Brookdale Senior Living
Center in Oklahoma City, where she brought light into the lives of the staff with
her kind spirit despite her battle with dementia.
Her passion for music, gardening, animals, and her unwavering faith were just a
few of the things that made her the incredible person she was. She made it a
mission to help anyone and anything in need, picking up every stray dog she
could catch and lending a helping hand wherever she could.
Djenadi's joyous spirit and caring nature touched many lives, making our world
a brighter and better place. She will be dearly missed as a loving mother, aunt,
grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her sons Benjamin Curtis
Cullen and wife Lorna, Luke Harrison Cullen, Andrew Paul Cullen and wife
Estrella; daughter, Ruth Ann Cullen Henager and husband Alan; brother, Jess
Tandy Mills III and wife Dianne; sister, Murray McBride. She is also survived by
twelve grandchildren: Isabella, Djenadi, Rand, Angelina, Alan, Lillie, Ruby,
Aubriana, Penelope, Mark Alan, Lucille, and Mindy Jane. Djenadi was
preceded in death by her husband Mark, her parents, her sister Maia Mills, and
her brothers Mark Mills and Brann Mills.
