Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martin C. Llamas Jr., entered his eternal rest on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on July 30, 1944, in Natalia, Texas, to Martin Llamas Sr. and Guadalupe Llamas.  He was a beloved son, husband, father, and friend, whose impact on those around him will be cherished forever.

Martin was a lifelong resident of Campbellton, Texas, where he actively participated in his community and served as Fire Chief and First Responder for the Paisano Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years. His work ethic was evident from an early age as he began his career as a fence builder and heavy machinery operator. Martin's passion for music led him to play the drums in a conjunto band, where he discovered the joy of performing and connecting with others through music.

In the small town of Christine, Texas, Martin met the love of his life, Aurora Bosquez. They were married after one year of courtship, just prior to Martin being drafted into the United States Army. Serving in the Infantry Division during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969, he exemplified courage and dedication to his country.

Upon his return, Martin embarked on a career as a truck driver, first with Conoco and later with Atascosa Mining, where he retired as a heavy machinery operator with Atascosa County Precinct 4. His commitment to hard work and community service extended beyond his career; he was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and actively involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post in Poteet.

Martin is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Aurora Llamas, and their two cherished children, daughter Ann "Annie" Margaret Llamas and son Christopher Martin Llamas. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Manuel Llamas.  He will be remembered for his humor, charisma, and the warmth he brought to all those whose lives he touched.

Martin's funeral services will commence with a public viewing at Hurley Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment in Campbellton City Cemetery.

As we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Martin C. Llamas Jr., we take solace in the memory of a great man, an amazing father, and a loving husband. May he rest in peace, soaring with the angels in heaven.
