In Loving Memory of Mary Alice Calvillo May 17, 1956 – August 26, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Alice Calvillo, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on August 26, 2026, in Charlotte, Texas. Born in Pleasanton, Texas, Mary Alice dedicated her life to the people she loved most. She was a loving, giving, and hardworking woman who believed deeply in family and found purpose in caring for and providing for those around her.

Mary Alice was the kind of person who gave generously, often putting the needs of others before her own. She worked hard throughout her life and took great pride in making sure her family was cared for. Family was at the center of her world, and she cherished the time spent together, creating memories and making sure those she loved felt supported and cared for.

One of Mary Alice’s greatest joys was being a grandmother. She loved to spoil her grandchildren, whether it was with a special gift, something they had been wanting, or simply making sure they knew they were loved. She took great pleasure in treating the people she loved and was happiest when she could do something special for her family.

Mary Alice also knew how to enjoy life and had a personality all her own. She loved her “bling,” a nice new pair of boots, and keeping her nails freshly polished. She enjoyed relaxing with a good movie or one of her favorite television shows, especially Yellowstone. She appreciated the simple pleasures of life and had a way of making them her own.

In her younger years, Mary Alice loved having fun with her sisters. Together, they made memories dancing and enjoying live music, especially country and Tejano music. Those years were filled with laughter, dancing, and the kind of unforgettable adventures that only sisters can share. Her love for live music and dancing remained a fond part of who she was and the memories her family will carry with them.

Mary Alice’s strength and resilience were evident throughout her life. Her faith was strong, always trusting God would provide. Even after receiving a terminal diagnosis, she fought valiantly for another year and a half, facing each day with determination and an unwavering will. Her strength reflected the woman she had always been, someone who worked hard, endured life’s challenges, and continued to put her family first.

Mary Alice is lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren, who were among her greatest treasures. She is survived by her children Clemencia Calvillo; Estefana “Stephanie” Calvillo (Joey Dominguez); and her only son, Pilo Calvillo; grandchildren Jade Romero, Evan Romero, Edyas Miranda, Brandon Dominguez, and Austin Dominguez; sisters Dora Barrera, Yolanda Murillo, Rachel Macias and her sister-in-law Mary Alcorta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Julio Calvillo, parents, Josephine Macias and Pete Garza; her uncle Frank Gutierrez, grandparents Jacinto and Clemencia Gutierrez; and her siblings Roy Pacheco, Robert Garza, Roland Macias, and Michael Macias.

Friends and family are invited to share their memories and pay their respects during the visitation at Hurley Funeral Home on September 8, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass in her honor will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on September 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at San Ysidro.

Mary Alice’s greatest legacy will not be measured by the things she owned or the years she lived, but by the love she gave, the family she devoted herself to, and the lives she touched along the way. Her kindness, strength, generosity, and devotion to her family will remain with them always.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
