Mary Frances Gonzales Hernandez, age 72 of Poteet, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Mary Frances or "Mari" as she was affectionately called, attended school in Houston, Texas and later, Jourdanton Schools.

She worked in the medical profession up until her retirement at which time she retired to Atascosa County.

Mary Frances was born on December 27, 1953, in Atascosa County to Frank Gonzales, Jr and Esther Marie Olivarri Gonzales.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Angel Hernandez, her children; Esther Marie Salas (David), Deanna Casarez (Joe) and her son, Mario Sanchez, Jr. all of Corpus Christi, Texas.  She leaves behind four grandchildren; Olivia Hernandez (Alfredo), Alyssa Hernandez (Juan), Victoria Sanchez (Benito) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Jordan Sanchez of Huntsville, Texas and five great-grandchildren; Sadie, Armando, Rey, Roman and Natalie.  Also surviving are her siblings; Richard Daniel Gonzales, George Gonzales, James Gonzales of Pleasanton and sisters, Eva G Hoekzema (Peter) of Harlingen, Texas and Linda Harrison of Cypress, Texas.

Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her maternal grandparents; Victor and Maggie Olivarri and her siblings; Frank Gonzales, Jr, Arnold Ray Gonzales, David Gonzales, Leroy DeLeon, Santana DeLeon and Ruth DeLeon.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Hurley Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
