Mary Ester Leal, age 79, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 20, 2023, in Pleasanton, Texas.  She was born on August 11, 1944, in Blackhill to Rudolfo and Ernestine Jaramillo.

Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Santos Leal; daughters, Becky Pacheco (Louis) and Michelle Leal; sons, Johnny Leal and Santos Leal, III (Stephanie); grandchildren, Louis Pacheco, III, Brittany Pacheco, Aaron Leal, Brandon Leal, J C Leal, Shelby Leal, Romi Leal, Steven Sangster, Sierra Faith Leal, Nasario Elizondo, Olivia Elizondo along with 19 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters, Connie Gonzales (Moses), Joann Aguilar (Joe), Gloria Rosas, and Yolanda Perez (Eddie); and brother, Ricardo Jaramillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolfo and Ernestina Jaramillo; sisters, Hopie Brosig and Angie Gallegos and brothers, Roy Jaramillo and Rudolfo Jaramillo, Jr.

Mary was a housewife, mother, and grandmother with a beautiful soul.  Mary was very active in the community in her younger years, including being an active member of the Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, where she served for 14 years, as husband, Santos Leal, Jr. and son, Santos Leal, III, served in the Fire Department as well.  She was also a Cub Scouts den mother as well as the Pleasanton Little League.  Mary was also a good dancer, and loved dancing with her husband, kids and grandkids, as well as a natural homemaker.  She was loved by many, the rock of the family, and will be terribly missed.

Services are scheduled for Monday, August 28, 2023, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, starting with a visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, a reciting of the rosary at 7:00 pm and a service at 7:30 pm.
