Mary Magdelen Poe, 77, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.  She was born on July 21, 1945 in Poteet, Texas to Adolph W. Vrana and Marie L. Lanik Vrana.

Mary grew up in Dobrowolski, Texas on a 20-acre farm.  She enjoyed the country life and all that it had to offer, the simple life of riding her bicycle up and down the county roads and helping her parents at their General Store, as well as attending Charlotte ISD.  Mary received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Southwest Texas State University and taught 4 ^th and 5 ^th graders for 20 years before retiring.  She had a passion for cooking, enjoying the solitude with a good book, and traveling every chance that she could.  She enjoyed the many friendships she had over the years from growing up in a small town.   Mary was an amazing storyteller, loving mother, and proud grandmother.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Marie Vrana, brothers, Richard and Rudy Vrana, nephew, Stephen Vrana, sister-in-law, Marilyn Vrana, and her ex-husband Charles (Butch) Tausch.  She is survived by her son, Jeff Tausch and his wife Karen, grandson, Jayden Tausch of Helotes, brother, Robert Vrana and his wife Sandra of Boerne, sister-in-law, Suzy Vrana of Gonzalez, sister-in-law, Bette Allen and husband George of Pleasanton, and ex-husband, Earl Poe of San Antonio.   Along with numerous nieces and nephews.  Her family was very important to her and she mentioned them often.

She will have all services on Friday, February 3, 2023 beginning with visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., reciting of the rosary at 1:00 p.m., and funeral mass at 1:30 p.m., all at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Pleasanton under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home.
