Mary Sanchez Ramos of Poteet passed away Friday, August 18, 2023, at the age of 88.  She was born in Poteet on June 12, 1935, to Antonio and Tomasa (Reyna) Sanchez.

Mary was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a farmer's daughter she knew and appreciated hard work. She taught her children many things- to sew, can preserves, to be hard working and most of all to stay strong in faith.  Mary was a woman of great faith and life long parishioner of St. Philip's Catholic Church. In their earlier years she and her late husband, Manuel, enjoyed trips with their children to camp and fish at the beach.

She was a fan of all sports and enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams- the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Astros and the San Antonio Spurs.
She enjoyed regular trips to the casino as well as playing Loteria and cards at home with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary was loved by many and will be greatly missed but the loving memories she leaves with her family and friends will last forever.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Z. Ramos; son, Manuel Ramos, Jr., grandson, David Ezra Villarreal; parents, Antonio and Tomasa Sanchez and brother, Leonard Sanchez, Sr.

Mary is survived by her children, Gloria Mejia and husband Raymond, Oscar Ramos and wife Gabriella, Sylvia Contreras and husband Jaime and Anita Villarreal.  She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be conducted at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Poteet on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm.  Funeral mass to be celebrated at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at the Ramos Family Cemetery off Curvier Road in Poteet.  Pallbearers for Mary's service will be Craig Contreras, Adrian Contreras, Benjamin Villarreal, Johnny Sanchez, Henry Ramos and Anthony Mejia.  Honorary pallbearers will be Manuel Ramos, III., and Miguel Ramos.
