Mary E. (Salazar) Staples passed peacefully at her home on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the age of 74.  She was born in Pleasanton on June 13, 1949, to Jesus Salazar and Isabel (Flores) Salazar.

Mary was a woman of unwavering faith.  She was studying to be a Jehovah's Witness and always lived by her beliefs with great conviction. She was a devoted mother and was known for her caring and loving nature, always putting her family first. Mary had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, always cherishing every moment spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Lee Staples.

Mary is survived by her sons, Lee Staples, Jr. (Anna Cruz) and Jacob Staples (Samantha); grandchildren, Kash Staples, Jaylee Staples and Jazlynn Metzger; and sister, Estella Valdez (Joe).

Services for Mary are scheduled for Monday, March 18, 2024, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, starting with a visitation from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a service conducted by Ernest H. Bevans at 6:30 pm.  Services will conclude at that time.
