Michael Dennis Showers

Michael Dennis Showers of Pleasanton was born on October 7, 1963, and passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the age of 62 in Floresville, Texas.

Michael was a faithful member of the Pleasanton Church of Christ for many years. He served the church as a custodian, doorman, and communion steward. He was also a member of the Shining Stars senior group, where he enjoyed playing games and participating in craft projects with fellow members.

After suffering a stroke in 2018, Michael became a resident at Prairie Meadows Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Floresville. During his time there, he formed meaningful friendships, enjoyed playing dominoes, and spent time visiting with staff members. He loved sharing memories of family trips from his youth and stories about his beloved dog, Rusty.

Michael cared deeply for his church family. He regularly called friends to check on them and their loved ones and to stay connected with news from the congregation. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday, and he always invited his closest friends to celebrate with him at Prairie Meadows.
Though quiet in nature, Michael had a gentle sense of humor that those closest to him cherished. He especially loved church potlucks, proudly bringing his favorite dish — deviled eggs — to share with everyone.

Michael found peace in knowing that he would soon be reunited with his parents.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Lola Fae Showers.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia Donivan and husband Gary Donivan; nephews & nieces, Shane Goins, Shawn Goins, Maura Donivan, Chris Dooley and wife Maddie, and Justin Donivan; along with 7 grandnephews and grandnieces.

A visitation for Michael will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 pm.
